Remembering Rizal (Narrative Essay)

Remembering Rizal

What is a hero? A hero is a person who will risk something for the sake of others and not expecting a reward. Heroes are the person we admire because of their bravery, achievements, act of kindness towards people, and being the model that inspire and motivates us in our lives. I know someone who stays as a hero. He was not famous before and he gave the Philippines independence by not using violence that can hurt people. His name is Jose Rizal. Many Filipinos, specially the old ones, have known his courage. But some kids today might not know the true story and sufferings of Rizal.

On the 18th day of January year 2013, we watched a play about the childhood of Jose. The play was entitled “Batang Rizal” which was held in Assumpta theater. We rode a jeepney because the venue was quite long from our school. We waited for about two hours before we watched it. While we’re waiting, I’m not totally bored because of my friends. They keep on distracting me and they’re always making me laugh. After the long time of waiting, we already went to the assumption theater. When we entered the theater, I saw the second floor. I was amazed with its construction, because it’s the only theater I saw that has a unique appearance. Before they start the play the students occupied the seats first.

The play started. It was really fun watching the characters act, specially the friends of Pepito, also the main character as Rizal. Even they’re just talking or saying something. It’s just so funny on how they say and react on it.  I’m just unsatisfied with their props because they didn’t even change the props in every scene. Some parts are also boring; they’re just singing and dancing so I fell asleep. But when the part that Jose came from the past where he left his slippers and shouted “tsinelas ko…! (My slipper…!) ” I really laughed there. It was my favorite part of the play. I was also touched in the scene where Jose was telling the story of his life back then to Pepito, who also told Jose that he would be shot and killed by the soldiers. He also told Jose that he must go back to the past so his story won’t change and he would still be a hero. I touched my heart because he keeps on asking Pepito why he should die. That couldn’t a person be a hero even if he didn’t die. But Pepito just answered him that it’s his destiny. After some scenes, the play ended and we already went home.

We had a great time watching the play. Not just because it was cold at the theater, it has funny scenes, or just to get away from school but because we learned some values from the story which we can be transferred in our lives. It’s also a good thing that there is still a play like this which tells the story of unique individuals in the past because some people do not quite know the stories about our history. This play reminds us that a hero is not always by means of using cruelty just to protect people but sacrificing yourself for the risk of others voluntarily. As long as you have done good things that is remarkable in the minds and touches the heart of the people you can be a hero.

Body O. Go Away! (Process Analysis)

Body O. Go Away!

Do you have a friend that has a bad odor? That even you're far away from him/her you can still smell it? I'm sure you wanted to get rid of it and help him/her. Here are some steps on how to tell your friend that he/she has a bad odor. After you read this, I'm sure your friend has no bad odor anymore and you two would have a wonderful day without any awkward feeling.

The first step is you should keep calm and take it easy. You must first know what would he/she feel if you tell him/her that he/she has a bad odor. Know his/her attitude and insensitivity. In that way, you will know if you must tell him/her the truth.

Second step is you must make her feel good and happy. Agree with all of his/her opinions, because it can help her not to be upset to you so easily. Also, don't make her mad and don't piss her off.

Third, talk about a topic that is closely and can be connected to your main agenda. If you can't take the smell any longer ask his/her perfume. Gradually, you'll go into your main agenda. Give advice about his/her hygiene. Talk about your own hygiene too so he/she won't suspect you.

Fourth, tell her what you really want to say in a different way. Tip, use a bit of irony or sarcasm  when you are saying this. And always smile when you are doing this, so she'll not found out what you really mean.

And the last step is, if she found out what you really wanted to say, don't try to deny it. Tell it to him/her directly. Tell it in a good and nice way. Of course he/she will be offended with what you say. You can try some things so she won't be so emotional, like telling him/her that you also had a bad hygiene in the past, so he/she won't feel shy and he/she won't think that he's/she's the only one who have this problem. You can also tell her a joke that would keep his/her mind away about what you've said to him/her. And after that, smile and talk with him/her about another topic again. In that way, I'm sure you're friend would be conscious on her odor and he/she will change her bad hygiene. You two will also have a wonderful day everyday without any awkward feeling.

My Holy Protection (Descriptive Essay)

My Holy Protection

There is one thing that I always wanted to bring. It is always in my pocket. It has something that makes me want to bring it, every time. Some people might think that nuns and priests are the only ones who bring it everywhere they go. But no, it's not. I always bring that day everyday. And that thing is called Rosary.

So what is a rosary? It is an object and a set of prayers and meditations. As an object, it is made up of fifty nine beads and the Crucifix. It is separated in groups containing different prayers. The four sets of beads. Each set contains ten beads called decade. each bead contain one prayer, the Hail Mary. The large beads that separates the four decades contain the prayers: Our Father and Glory Be. The medallion that has the structure or picture of Mother Mary contains the Hail Holy Queen. But some rosaries doesn't have that but it's just the same. And the last is the Crucifix, which contains the Apostle's Creed.

Rosary means "Garland of Roses". And rose is the queen of flowers as well as Mother Mary, She is the queen of the world. When using the rosary, we meditate the mysteries of Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious, and Luminous. We also recall the lives of Jesus and Mary while we're praying. Mother Mary also joins us when we pray the rosary. And every time we pray the rosary, it's like we're offering Mother Mary a bouquet  of roses.

Many Catholics have been using Rosary as a protection from bad things and for comfort in times of danger. It is a powerful weapon against evil, and brings us true peace. Some people who doesn't really know the meaning of the rosary, might think that it's just like any other objects. But it's not just a rosary, that has full of beads and aligned together. It's like a medallion. It keeps you away from any danger. That when you have it, you always feel safe, that you won't ever think of leaving it anywhere. Devotion to the Rosary is one of the most important features of Catholic Spirituality, so we have to take care, value and cherish it.
